Coastwatch Scotland Tay Unit

Welcome to our website.

Coastwatch (Tay) is based in Broughty Ferry, Dundee on the North East coast of Scotland (Latitude: 56.4608, Longitude: -2.973) and is part of the Coastwatch Scotland network.

Coastwatch Scotland is a recognised Scottish Charity No SCO 36893 and is made up of volunteers with an interest in, and concern for, the safety of life at sea and on the coast.

Coastwatch (Tay) volunteers provide occasional river watcher patrols monitoring and reporting missing lifesaving equipment, we maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 16 and other marine channels and keep a watchful eye over activities at the Broughty Ferry harbour and other slipways in our area.

We are NOT a rescue organisation, we observe and report incidents to the appropriate emergency services and will provide assistance only if requested.

Coastwatch volunteers provide surveillance and reporting duties and liaise with the emergency services and local authorities providing reports and information on local situations and incidents as required.

Tay Unit currently patrols the following areas:-

Invergowrie Bay
Grassy Beach
Riverside Drive
Broughty Ferry Pilot Pier

Dicovery Point

Broughty Ferry Harbour

Victoria Dock

Broughty Ferry Beach

City Quay

Broughty Ferry Esplanade

Stannergate

It is hoped that as membership increases we will  establish CWS sections in Tayport, Newport, Wormit, Newburgh, Balmarino, Invergowrie and Perth
