Welcome to the Coastwatch Tay Website

Please note that we are not an emergency response organisation and should you observe someone in difficulty at sea or along our coastline you should dial 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD.

Coastwatch Scotland which is a recognised Scottish charity, is made up of volunteers with an interest in, and a concern for, the safety of life at sea and on the coast.

On our beaches on any reasonable day activities such as families walking, horse riding, kite carts, trial bikes, quad bikes, wind surfing, kitesurfing, jet skis, canoeing, swimming, boating, can be ongoing in the same day.

Our land based volunteers monitor marine radio frequencies and keep observation on our beaches and sea areas, reporting any emergencies or dangerous occurrences to the emergency services or local authorities as required keeping them updated and providing assistance as requested.

Our aims are to assist in the preservation and protection of life at sea and along the coastline in particular by the provision of Lookout Stations for the public benefit. We aim to establish and maintain an organisation of skilled volunteers to provide a service ashore and afloat in the interests of the general public and wildlife.

Coastwatch Scotland is operated by volunteers and as such is constantly on the look out for new members. Men and women of all ages are welcome, no previous experience is necessary. We also require people with the skills to teach and pass on local knowledge to our Volunteers.

The hope is to form many units throughout Scotland where there are areas of high activity.

If you have some spare time or you are semi-retired/retired and are looking for something interesting or if you have the experience to pass on please use the web contact form on this site to contact us.

If you identify an area of high activity anywhere in Scotland and are interested in setting up a unit please contact us.
